Play Begins for Team Canada at the 2025 Chengdu World Games

CHENGDU, CHINA – August 12, 2025 – Racquetball competition gets underway on Wednesday, August 13 (Tuesday, August 12 in Canada) in Chengdu, China at the 2025 World Games. Canadian athletes Frédérique Lambert of Montréal, Québec, and Coby Iwaasa of Lethbridge, Alberta, are ready to represent the nation.

The World Games, running from August 7 to 17, features 34 sports, with racquetball making its seventh appearance in the multi-sport event’s history. Sixteen nations will compete in singles and mixed doubles, with qualification based on results from the 2024 World Championships and a system that ensures global representation, with spots allocated across Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

Lambert and Iwaasa, both reigning Canadian Champions and long-time international contenders, are set to open their play as follows:

  • Lambert – Singles: Wednesday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m. Chengdu / Tuesday, August 12 at 10:00 p.m. ET
  • Iwaasa – Singles: Wednesday, August 13 at 6:00 p.m. Chengdu / Wednesday, August 13 at 6:00 a.m ET
  • Iwaasa & Lambert – Mixed Doubles: Thursday, August 14 at 11:00 a.m. Chengdu / Wednesday, August 13 at 11:00 p.m. ET

The World Games will stream matches live, with coverage expected to begin at 9:50 p.m. ET tonight. Fans can watch on the World Games Live Site or by downloading the official World Games Live app.
