Canada’s Best Preparing for National Team Selection Event in Kitchener

Winnipeg – January 23, 2018 – Thirty two of Canada’s best racquetball athletes will be in Kitchener from February 2 to 4 for Racquetball Canada’s National Team Selection Event. The tournament is being held at the Kitchener YMCA.

High performance athletes will compete in Men’s and Women’s Open Singles events. The organizers are also hosting a tournament open to all participants that will run concurrently with the Selection Event that includes several singles and doubles skill categories. In total, over fifty players of all ages and abilities will be competing in the tournament.

It’s expected that the competition will be intense as this is the final competition prior to the 2018 Pan Am Championship Team being selected. As well the event impacts the 2018 World Championship Team and is also part of the consideration for nomination to national teams and Sport Canada funding. The Pan Am Championships take place in Temuco, Chile from March 23 to 31.

“I’m so excited to see who will be named to our Pan American Championship team.” said Geri Powell, Racquetball Canada’s Administrator of High Performance and Sport Development. “I’m very proud of each of the athletes that continue to train hard to wear the Maple Leaf internationally.”
