{"id":588,"date":"2020-04-28T21:17:45","date_gmt":"2020-04-29T01:17:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/racquetballcanada.ca\/bc\/safe-sport-protections\/"},"modified":"2024-02-22T09:50:12","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T17:50:12","slug":"safe-sport-protections","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/racquetballbc.org\/safe-sport-protections\/","title":{"rendered":"Safe Sport Protections"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Racquetball BC is taking actions to protect those involved in the sport and encourages all clubs, facilities, provincial associations and tournament organizers to do the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Racquetball BC:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Is guided by a robust set of Safe Sport policies;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As an Affiliated Sport with ViaSport, Racquetball BC has adopted the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.us-east-1.wasabisys.com\/racquetball-canada\/sites\/4\/2024\/02\/BC_UCC_2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">British Columbia Universal Code of Conduct<\/a><\/strong> (BC-UCC). <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has Provincial Member of Racquetball Canada, Racquetball BC has adopted the <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.us-east-1.wasabisys.com\/racquetball-canada\/2022\/06\/UCCMS-6.0-FINAL-20220531.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Universal\u00a0Code of Conduct\u00a0to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (UCCMS);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has adopted protocols, best practices and recommendations put in place by leaders in the field of Safe Sport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Universal Code of Conduct<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of Canada\u2019s national sport community, Racquetball BC is dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming sport environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Racquetball BC has adopted both the <em><strong>British Columbia Universal Code of Conduc<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>t<\/em> (BC-UCC)<\/strong> and the <em><strong>Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sp<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>ort<\/em> (UCCMS)<\/strong>. The <em>UCCMS<\/em> is a result of an extensive consultation process that sought insight and expertise from within the sport system and from external experts. The BCUCC adds on to the UCCMS with further information about accepted behaviours and boundary transgression. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All those who become members of Racquetball BC are asked to acknowledge and to agree to follow the BC Universal Code of Conduct and the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport as well as Racquetball BC&#8217;s policies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/s3.us-east-1.wasabisys.com\/racquetball-canada\/sites\/4\/2024\/02\/BC_UCC_2021.pdf\" style=\"border-radius:10px\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to view and download the BC-UCC<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/s3.us-east-1.wasabisys.com\/racquetball-canada\/2022\/06\/UCCMS-6.0-FINAL-20220531.pdf\" style=\"border-radius:10px\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to view and download the UCCMS<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Policies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Racquetball BC has a robust set of policies to help protect all participants in the sport of racquetball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Racquetball BC&#8217;s policies are referenced throughout the&nbsp;Safe Sport webpages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specifically we are committed to;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Limiting physical interactions to non-threatening or non-sexual touching (e.g., high fives, pats on the back or shoulder, handshakes, specific skill instruction, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that&nbsp;Vulnerable Individuals&nbsp; (minors)&nbsp;are always supervised by more than one&nbsp;Person in Authority.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that more than one person is involved with team selection (thereby limiting the consolidation of power onto one individual).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that parents\/guardians are aware that some non-personal communication between&nbsp;Persons in Authority&nbsp;and&nbsp;Vulnerable Individuals<em>,&nbsp;<\/em>such as&nbsp;between coaches and minor athletes, may take place electronically in the form of texts, emails or on social media platforms, and that this type of communications is now considered to be commonplace. Individuals are&nbsp;aware that such communication is subject to&nbsp;Racquetball BC\u2019s<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.wasabisys.com\/racquetball-canada\/2020\/07\/17024718\/Racquetball_Canada_Policy_Suite_Final_EN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em> Code of Conduct <\/em>and&nbsp;<em>Social Media Policy.<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When traveling with&nbsp;Vulnerable Individuals, the&nbsp;Person in Authority&nbsp;will not transport&nbsp;Vulnerable Individuals&nbsp;without another adult present and will not stay in the same overnight accommodation without additional adult supervision.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.wasabisys.com\/racquetball-canada\/2020\/07\/17024718\/Racquetball_Canada_Policy_Suite_Final_EN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Click here<\/strong><\/a> to link to the complete list of Racquetball BC&#8217;s policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Responsible Coaching Movement<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/coach.ca\/responsible-coaching-movement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <em><strong>Responsible Coaching Movem<\/strong><\/em><\/a><em><a href=\"https:\/\/coach.ca\/responsible-coaching-movement\"><strong>ent<\/strong> <\/a>(RCM)<\/em> is a call to action for sport organizations, parents and coaches to enact responsible coaching across Canada \u2013 on and off the field of play. Established by the Coaching Association of Canada and the\u00a0Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, the RCM invites all coaches and sport organizations to learn and apply consistent safety principles.
